Structure of the Testis of the Goby Glossogobius olivaceus
نویسندگان
چکیده
The structure of the testis of the goby Glossogobius olivaceus was histologically studied. The testis was a small elongate organ and was semicircular or reverse triangle in shape in cross section. The testis was composed of two main parts; peripheral seminiferous region and central large glandular region. Seminiferous region was mainly composed of seminiferous lobules. The cyst of germ cells covered the inner wall of the seminiferous lobules. The cyst cells were thin and round in shape. 3ƒÀ-HSD activity was detected only in the glandular cells, but not in the seminiferous lobules. Glandular cells had well developed smooth surfaced endoplasmic reticulum and mito chondria with many tubular cristae. The glandular cells are considered to be homologous with the Leydig cells of other vertebrates.

Comparative metabolomic and ionomic approach for abundant fishes in estuarine environments of Japan
Environmental metabolomics or ionomics is widely used to characterize the effects of environmental stressors on the health of aquatic organisms. However, most studies have focused on liver and muscle tissues of fish, and little is known about how the other organs are affected by environmental perturbations and effects such as metal pollutants or eutrophication. We examined the metabolic and min...
متن کاملUltrastructural changes in testis of gobiid fish Glossogobius giuris (Ham) induced by fenthion.
Pesticides are known to affect the testis in fishes and cause cytomorphological changes or gross physiological alterations due to changes in its histology, retard gonadotrophic secretions thereby causing regression of the gonads. Light and ultrastructural studies were made on control and fenthion treated testis, interstitial gland and sperms of G. giuris during spawning phase after exposing the...
متن کاملRoles of GATA6 during Gonadal Development in Japanese Flounder: Gonadogenesis, Regulation of Gender-Related Genes, Estrogen Formation and Gonadal Function Maintenance
GATA-binding protein 6 (GATA6), a highly-conserved transcription factor of the GATA family plays an important role in gonadal cell proliferation, differentiation and endoderm development. In this study, the full-length cDNA of GATA6 of Paralichthys olivaceus (Japanese flounder) was obtained. Phylogenetic, gene structure and synteny analyses demonstrated that GATA6 of P. olivaceus is homologous ...

This study was conducted to investigate the dietary habits of Caspian bighead goby (Ponticola gorlap) in Anzali wetland. For this purpose, 70 goby were collected from four stations in different parts of Anzali Wetland by cone nets (fyke net) during December 2014 to April 2015. The contents of the gastrointestinal tract were examined using the occurrence method of Numerical methods. Condition fa...
متن کاملThe Effects of Ranitidine Long Term Use on Histological Structure of Mature Rat Testis
Background: Since ranitidine inhibits the activity of testis Na+-K+ATPase, Ca++ATPase and Mg++ATPase enzymes, and affects estrogen metabolism in the liver and causes gynecomastia, the effects of long term use of ranitidine on testis were studied. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study 40 two-month aged male rats were divided into four groups (control group and 1, 2&3 test groups). T...
